Faux Shearling
An important note on the use of a culturally appropriated term in this product description:
Eddie Bauer has replaced the term Sherpa with Faux Shearling as part of our company-wide effort to remove culturally appropriated designs, terms, and names from current and future products. Sherpa refers to an indigenous people native to Tibet and Nepal in the eastern Himalayas of Central Asia. Learn more about our efforts here

Warm and stylish non- down coat
    Jan 9, 2021

I am allergic to down and I was looking for something other than the typical "puffer." I like that this has the utility look combined with classic elements. Favorite details are the cinch waist, vented back, removable faux fur, and seaming on chest. I find it very warm, def a winter coat for me even here in CT. But I'm a hearty lifetime New Englander and warm easily. Only design feature I would change is stand funnel neck, I'd like the option to fold it down. Super excited I got this excellent coat at a great price.

    I like this coat!
    Oct 26, 2020

I really like this coat. I was in need of a new winter coat. Granted, I live in the Pacific NW, so perhaps not the coldest place, but it can get quite chilly here at times. We've already had some rather brisk weather this year, and the coat has been great! It's definitely not super fitted, but that's nice because I can get a sweater or something underneath it. I like the fit and the look. It's kept me warm, and owing to the potential for rain here often, I like the waterproofness. I do feel skeptical of the -20 claims, but... it'll definitely be enough for the weather out here. I've been very happy with my purchase so far.

Great coat for rain but not -20 temp
    Nov 15, 2020

I purchased this coat because I needed something long and waterproof. Many coats are advertised as being waterproof but when you get to the fine print it says "water resistant" which just doesn't cut it in the Pacific Northwest. This coat is definitely waterproof and long enough to protect my thighs form the weather as well. It is NOT a true winter parka and would never hold up in -20 degree F as advertised. In fact, anything under 45 degrees and I add a packable down jacket for extra warmth. The sleeves are only lightly insulated and would provide no warmth in colder weather. And, while the sherpa lining is cute and adds warmth, I don't understand why Eddie lined the hood with it - if you are in the rain with the hood down (I wear a hat) the sherpa lining just gets waterlogged, so I am cutting the lining out tonight. The sherpa lining does not extend down the sleeves, which I like because I find it hard to pull fleece-lined sleeves over winter sweaters etc. Overall, I am pleased with the coat as it suits my purposes.
